Route type: Ride Through
Difficulty grade: Blue (Intermediate)
Pavement Quality Good for the most part although there are sections of broken pavement, repairs and tar snakes in spots throughout the the route.
Route Type No super tight hairpins but just about everything else along this route. Sweepers, linked turns, long corners which climb to the top of the pass.
Traffic Level Camper traffic, lots of trailers and other motorcyclists. Very popular road but the length of it with plenty of passing sections make it easy to handle.
Fuel Stops Fort Collins has fuel as well as Walden, there is a small older pump in Rustic but have not verified it works.
Hazards Some broken pavement, high winds at times, large vehicles towing campers in tight canyon spaces.

Route 14 (Poudre Canyon) is an amazing road that runs west from Fort Collins (Ted's Place) all the way to Walden, CO while winding through a canyon and up over Cameron pass. The views along this route are incredible with plenty of places to pull over and take pictures. The route can be ridden by just about any motorcycle however the length of the route along with some of the technical sections make it not suitable for true beginners and therefore classified as intermediate.

The best sections of the ride and through the canyon and up the mountain pass near the reservoir, with other sections in between containing mostly sweeper type turns and a few connected ones. Things flatten out and get pretty predictable after Cameron Pass but Walden is a fun little town to visit so the ride is worth it.

The Poudre Canyon is a narrow verdant canyon, approximately 40 miles (64 km) long, on the upper Cache la Poudre River (called the "Poudre" for short, which locals pronounce as "Pooder") in Larimer County, Colorado in the United States. The canyon is a glacier-formed valley through the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains northwest of Fort Collins.

The canyon begins in northern Rocky Mountain National Park, at an elevation of approximately 9,000 ft (2,700 m), where the Poudre descends from near the continental divide. It winds gently to the northeast, then east, descending the slope of the Colorado Tertiary Pediment, emerging through the southern end of the Laramie Foothills north of Bellvue at an elevation of approximately 5,000 ft (1,500 m). Except for the small upper portion of the canyon north of Rocky Mountain National Park, State Highway 14 runs through the canyon. The route of the highway provides the principal vehicle access to the canyon and furnishes a road link between Fort Collins and North Park on the western side of Cameron Pass, which is accessible from the upper canyon. Most of the canyon is within the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest, which is headquartered in nearby Fort Collins.
